![]() Also, many of them were complete red herrings that, whilst interesting, ultimately had nothing to do with the overarcing plot or mystery. I felt that a lot of the side characters had more interesting secrets and backstories than the core mystery itself. Bradley?) felt fairly unspectacular and left a somewhat bitter taste in my mouth. The solution regarding his partner's apparent betrayal (whose name I can't even remember now. Maybe I'm just not remembering very well (it's been a while), but from what I recall, the core mystery of the game, the reason why Kyle was even there, sort of fell by the wayside and felt overshadowed by everything else that came to light throughout the course of the game. My issues with the gameplay aside, the story fell a little short of my expectations as well. As someone who was only ever playing it for the story, I used a guide for the vast majority of the game because I just found it really frustrating to play yet still wanted to see what happened. Vague, borderline aimless event triggers and stupidly specific requirements and solutions made the game borderline unplayable for me without a walkthrough. ![]() First, let me get one thing out the way I'll separate the story and gameplay entirely here, because based purely on a gameplay level, I would have hated this game. I still liked it quite a lot, but it missed my expectations by a bit. ![]() I'll admit, maybe it's because I had very high expectations of them due to years of hearing good things, but sadly Hotel Dusk did underwhelm me a little. Years later, I finally did (saw Hotel Dusk going for £5 in GAME, boyfriend for me Last Window as a birthday present ). These two games are ones that caught my attention repeatedly since launch and were ones that I kept telling myself I 'really ought to get round to at some point'. I'd been playing a lot of text-heavy games around that point (Layton 6, Ace Attorney 5), and didn't want to burn myself out on them, so decided to wait a few months before moving on to Last Window. Last Window is actually imminent on my 'to play' list- I got both games back around November last year and played Hotel Dusk back in December.
